Churches
 
Naxos has hundreds of churches, many of them from the Byzantine era and most of them linked by ancient footpaths or mule tracks. The oldest church is near Moni, Panagia Drosiani, parts of which date back to the 5th and 6th centuries. The front part of the church has beautiful restored frescoes, some of which are from the 6th and 7th centuries.
