Paratrechos
is a Venetian country manor which formerly
belonged to the ruling Venetian dukes and aristocrats when Naxos
was under Venetian rule.
The house was first mentioned in documents in
1405; it is a unusual historical property in a beautiful fertile
valley about 4.5 km from the sea and from Naxos town.
The house is 170 sq.m. and has 4000 sq.m. land; in the grounds
is the oldest and tallest Araucaria tree on Naxos.
The
courtyard has mature palm trees of 15 m. height
The house has easy access from the main road and can be reached
via an unpaved road in good condition and negotiable with a normal
car.
The house is in a beautiful rural and very private environment
but is a short distance from all amenities and facilities. The
first floor balcony has beautiful views towards the sea and across
the lush countryside.
The house has been professionally renovated in accordance with
the regulations of the Archaeological office in Athens.
The renovation work includes reinforced concreting and tiling
of the roof structures, exterior plastering, new wooden floors
on the first floor, new wooden stairs, doors and windows.
There is a new water cistern and drainage system, new electrical
wiring and connection to the mains water supply.
The
interior of the house has been left unfinished. The original stone
work of the walls is intact.
The
house has been built on three floors and can be be transformed
into a unique country residence.
The ground floor
has a spacious entrance hall, a dining room, a kitchen, a toilet
and a storage room.
Wooden stairs lead to the first floor which has a living room,
2 bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath.
There
are panoramic views from this level across the country side and
sunset views over the island of Paros and the sea.
The second floor consists of a gallery with wooden floors. There
is access to a large balcony on the side of the house.
The interior of the house is open-plan and unfinished and can
be as far as possible adapted to the wishes and preferences of
the future owner.
