Moutsouna,
once the main emery
port of Naxos, lies on the Eastern coast of the island. The
old cable railway can still be seen with emery still in the
buckets when descending the serpentine road leading to the village.
Since emery is now produced synthetically Moutsouna mainly survives
as a fishing port and from a limited amount of tourism.
The quayside has a few waterfront restaurants with excellent
fresh fish and lobster. There are two small sand beaches with
crystal clear water.
